Useful and accurate guidebook to San Francisco

We have Fodor's 96 San Francisco, and find it a worthwhile reference book. Fodor's has a well- deserved reputation for quality, and this book continues the tradition. There are descriptions and judgments which we might disagree with, but which we cannot object to as inaccurate.

The book contains a section called "The Gold Guide," with a range of quick tips about the city, including getting there, local reading, car rentals, health and disability issues, emergencies, food and lodging, and more. The Gold Guide is followed by sections containing an overview of San Francisco, tours, shopping, dining, lodging, arts, nightlife, and excursions into the area surrounding the city.
