A thorough treatment of hikes and walks in the Caribbean islands

This is the 1996 edition. There is an introductory chapter to getting to the Caribbean, getting around when you have arrived, and ratings for the difficulty of the hikes and walks. (Some are pleasant beach strolls, some require mountaineering expertise.) The islands are listed in geographical order, and the author devotes 55 pages to hikes and walks on Martinique; there is a nice description of the geography of the island, a brief history, and data on general travel information related to Martinique. The descriptions of the hikes, however, are brief and dry. Guadeloupe's hikes are given 43 pages, so the book is rather thorough in its coverage.

This book is recommended for dedicated hikers.
